Prague

I realize that I am very far behind in posting, since the content of this one is about our trip to Eastern Europe back in...Febuary?

From Krakow we had another loooong busride to Prague, but this one wasn't quite as bad because it was on main roads and pretty flat terrain. We got to Prague and had a nightime walking tour of the city. The buildings were all so old and beautiful. I'd had a few friends spend the fall semester in Prague, so I had some ideas of where to go, but couldn't imagine how pretty it was.

Aside from our meetings we had quite a bit of time to explore Prague itselft which was great. One of the days after a meeting Chris, Andy, Kate and I headed to the main square to climb to the top of the tower. The climb ended up being a couple flights of stairs and a fairly cool elevator. The view from the top was amazing and the sun had come out so the sky was clear blue and you could see so much of the city.

Czech food is not so good, they seem to think that dumplings are thick slices of bread and meat should be in a sweet sauce with whipped cream on top. Our hotel had a pool, but we didn't know that ahead of time and therefore I did not bring swimming stuff, and when I decided to just go in shorts and a tank top I was too late from taking a nap and went out to find dinner (this time at a yummy steak restaurant where I had stuffed chicken of some sort).

Our last day in Prague Kori, Kate and I wandered around a lot and went to a museum of Mucha who is from Prague. It was a really small museum, but as I didn't know who Mucha was before it was really interesting since they had big panels explaining who he was and why he did different styles and works. There was a lot of political work and he had intense national pride which was only subtly shown in one phase of his work.

After the museum we wandered by following brown signs that pointed the way to various important things. We found the Jewish quarter with lots of really cool shops and a beautiful synagogue and enjoyed feeling mildly lost (which Kate and I are bad at).

The last night we all went out dancing which was pretty fun. We (the girls) protected the guys from the prostitutes who were trying to get them to come to strip clubs.

The next morning we were up bright and early for the flight to Tallinn.
